Congratulations on your purchase of UltraGauge BlueTM

This page provides links to all the information needed to install & use UltraGauge BlueTM

 

There are four steps to installation, click on each of the steps below to reveal the detail and/or
watch the Apple install video or the Android install video

1. Install the UltraGauge BlueTM Mobile Application (click to expand)

Android

From the Android Device click here to install the UltraGauge App from the Google Playstore

Once the app is installed, proceed to step 2:  "Install the UltraGauge BlueTM Adapter"

From your Apple device click here to install the App from the Apple Store

Once the app is installed, proceed to step 2:   "Install the UltraGauge BlueTM Adapter".

2. Install the UltraGauge BlueTM Adapter (click to expand)

Vehicle's OBDII ConnectorLocate the vehicle’s OBDII connector.  This connector is typically found above the foot controls and below the steering column.  See the diagram below.  In rare cases, the connector may be found in a similar location on the passenger side or even in the vehicle’s console.   To determine where the OBDII connector is located for your vehicle, please use the following resource: http://obdclearinghouse.com/index.php?body=oemdb 

If your vehicle is not listed, check other like model years.

Install the Adapter

  1. Set the ignition to the RUN position, engine off.  If you are unsure of the RUN position, start the vehicle.
  2. Connect the Adapter to the vehicle's OBDII connector.  The Adapter's Green Battery icon should light, if not check vehicle's fuse.      (*** Do not press the button while attaching the Adapter ***)
  3. The UltraGauge BlueTM Adapter will then determine the vehicle’s protocol. The Adapter's amber vehicle icon will blink every 1.5 seconds, indicating communication with the vehicle..

The vehicle's ignition must remain in the RUN/START position in order for the Adapter to communicate with the vehicle’s Engine Control Unit (ECU).  Start over if this was not the case.

3. Pair the mobile device to the UltraGauge BlueTM Adapter (click to expand)

Android

  • Enable Pairing at the UltraGauge BlueTM Adapter:
    1. Press and Hold the UltraGauge BlueTM Adapter button
    2. After 3 seconds, the amber Vehicle icon will begin to blink. Continue to hold the button pressed until the Attention icon begins to slow blink, indicating that the adapter is in pairing mode.  Release the button.

    3. Drag your finger from the top of the screen downward to reveal the Android Control Settings

    4. Press and Hold the BlueTooth Icon to bring up the BlueTooth configuration screen. 
      Switch on the BlueTooth if not already on.

    5. The mobile device will scan and discover the UltraGauge BlueTM Adapter.
      The ignition must be in the RUN position and the mobile device must be within the vehicle.

  • Initiate Pairing on the Mobile device by tapping “Ultragauge Blue”

  • Once paired, the mobile device will show “paired” and the Attention icon will no longer be lit.  If the Attention icon is still blinking, pairing was not fully successful.  Tap the setup icon that appears to the right of “UltraGauge Blue” on the mobile device.   Then click “Unpair”. Unplug and plug in the adapter and repeat the pairing steps.

  • The Adapter and the mobile device are now paired.   Both the mobile device and the adapter will remember this pairing and this process should not need to be repeated in the future.

  • Launch the UltraGauge application on your mobile device. The application will automatically discover and connect with UltraGauge BlueTM

    • Apple

  • Enable Pairing at the UltraGauge BlueTM Adapter:
    1. Press and Hold the UltraGauge BlueTM Adapter button
    2. After 3 seconds, The amber Vehicle icon will begin to blink. Continue to hold the button pressed until the Attention icon begins to slow blink, indicating that the adapter is in pairing mode.  Release the button.

    3. Tap the Apple “Settings” Icon.

    4.  Select “Bluetooth” From the settings menu

    5. If Bluetooth is set to Off, switch it to On.
      The ignition must be in the RUN position and the mobile device must be within the vehicle.

    6. The Apple device will then scan and find the UltraGauge BlueTM Adapter.

  • Tap “Ultragauge Blue” to initiate pairing

  • Once paired, the mobile device will show “Connected” and the Attention icon will no longer be lit.  If the Attention icon is still blinking, pairing was not fully successful.  Tap the icon that appears to the right of “UltraGauge Blue” on the Apple device.   Click “Forget this device”.  Unplug and plug in the Adapter and repeat the paring steps. 

  • The Adapter and the mobile device are now paired.   Both the mobile device and the adapter will remember this pairing and this process should not need to be repeated in the future.

  • Launch the UltraGauge application on your mobile device. The application will automatically discover and connect with UltraGauge BlueTM

    • 4. Start the UltraGauge BlueTM Application & connect to the Adapter (click to expand)

    Now that the mobile device has been paired with the UltraGauge BlueTM Adapter, start the Application by tapping the UltraGauge BlueTM Mobile Application icon:

    The first time the UltraGauge Application is started, the following warning screen will appear.  

    ** WARNING **
    Never use the Menu
    while operating
    the vehicle
    Injury or Death
    may occur

    Once acknowledged, the “Home Gauge Page” screen will appear. 

    Check the connection status with the UltraGauge BlueTM Adapter - Select your device below to continue.

    Android

    When the Application starts, it will come to rest on the Main Gauge Page. At the top of the page is the BlueTooth Connection Icon, as shown here

    Tap the icon to view the connection screen

    If the mobile device has not been paired with the Adapter the connection screen will display:

    If an Adapter has been paired, the Blue rectangular button will show the currently selected paired Adapter.
    If more than one Adapter has been paired, then tapping the blue button allows Adapter selection



    If UltraGauge is paired but not connected, UltraGauge will attempt to connect every 30 seconds.
    A count down will be shown as UltraGauge waits. Tapping the Blue button will cause the
    connection to be retried immediately.  Normally Ultragauge will automatically connect, no intervention is necessary

    Once connected, the screen will populate with vehicle information:

    The UltraGauge main gauge screen will now show live data from the vehicle

    Apple

    When the Application starts, it will come to rest on the Main Gauge Page. Tap any blank space on the display, and the BlueTooth connection icon will appear at the top of the page.

    Tap the icon to view the connection screen

    If the mobile device has not been paired with the Adapter the connection screen will display:
    UltraGauge Apple Connection - Not Paired

    If an Adapter has been paired, the Blue rectangular button will show the currently selected paired Adapter.
    If more than one Adapter has been paired, then tapping the blue button allows Adapter selection

    UltraGauge will automatically attempt to connect every 20 seconds. No intervention is necessary.
    Once connected, the connection screen will populate with the vehicle's information as shown above.

    The UltraGauge main gauge screen will now show live data from the vehicle
